The official version of Android 4.2.2 was leaked a while ago for Galaxy S3 I9300 codenamed I9300XXUFME3. It is now available for download updating the Galaxy S3 I9300 to Jelly Bean 4.2.2 JDQ39. Please know that this is an early release of the firmware so it is a test release and not the final version with the latter being released sometime in the near future. If you want to know how it might look like on your device, you can download and install this leaked update if you so wish. The firmware can be installed using Odin and the details of the firmware are as follows:

You need to ensure the following things before you being updating your cellphone to the leaked version of the Android 4.2.2.

  • Make sure you have all the necessary drivers installed. This is ensured by having Samsung Kies installed on your computer;
  • If you want, you should and must backup all your data including contacts and messages;
  • Your phone should have USB Debugging enabled. If it’s not enabled, make sure you enable it and;
  • Please exit Samsung Kies if it is running in the background.

Here is how to download and install Android 4.2.2 for Galaxy S3 codenamed I9300XXUFME3:

Step 1: Download the zip package containing all the files you will need: Click here

Step 2: Unzip the downloaded package in order to obtain this file: I9300XXUFME3_I9300OJKFME1_HOME.tar.md5

Step 3: Download Odin: Click here

Step 4: Unzip Odin and run the file Odin3_v3.04.exe as administrator

Step 5: Boot your device in download mode as so:

  • Switch your phone off;
  • Press and hold these three keys: Home, Volume Down and Power Button;
  • Confirm and you will enter the download mode

Step 6: Connect your device to the computer using the USB Cable once you are in the download mode; make sure the Odin is running on your PC. Odin should be able to detect your device when it connects to the computer

Step 7: Once Odin is opened, click the PDA button; browse and select this file: I9300XXUFME3_I9300OJKFME1_HOME.tar.md5

Step 8: Once the file is selected, click start and it will initiate the process. You will need to be patient because the firmware is now being flashed on your phone

Once the installation is complete, the phone will automatically restart and you will have the latest firmware on your phone. Once again, please understand that this is a test version and not the final one.
