If you are one of those who purchased a Verizon Galaxy S4 and are wondering how to root it, the following guide will help you do just that. The root was made available shortly after the phone was released into the market which makes us wonder if the rooting process is becoming extremely easy or if the developers are just getting really awesome. Anyway, please follow the guide below to learn how to root the Verizon Galaxy S4.

S4

What you need to download:

  1. Please download and install the official USB Drivers for your device; Click Here
  2. Please download and extract ODIN v3.07; Click Here
  3. Please download VRUAMD2 pre-release kernel; Click Here
  4. Please download VRUAMDK stock kernel; Click Here
  5. Lastly, please download and extract the motochopper root exploit; Click Here

Step 1: Turn your phone off, wait five seconds and turn it back on in Download Mode by pressing and holding volume down and power button. You will see a disclaimer screen. At this point you should let go of all the buttons and press the volume up key to accept. You should be able to see a green robot by now.

Step 2: Connect your phone with the PC, make sure you have the downloaded files copied into the root of your SD. ODIN should detect your phone and open up automatically. Go into the PDA section, select VRUAMD2 file and click START. Be patient and after the installation shut down your phone.

Step 3: Restart your phone and verify that everything is working perfectly.

Step 4: Make sure that you head over to the security settings and enable unknown sources

Step 5: Make sure that USB debugging is checked

Step 6: Connect your phone to the computer again and run the file ‘run.bat’ from where you extracted the motochopper file

Step 7: If it is successful, upon reboot you should check if SuperSU has any update. If so, open the app and let it update itself *this is highly important*

Step 8: Open any root app and see if it is able to get root access

Step 9: Boot once again into download mode as explained above

Step 10: Flash the VRUAMDK Stock Kernel using ODIN just as explained previously. Once the kernel is flashed, reboot the phone and see if everything works. If so, congratulations you have achieved full root access.
